San Juan de los Reyes Monastery:

The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes is one of the main monuments of the city of Toledo and an important tourist destination in Spain. It is located in the historic center of the city, very close to the Toledo Cathedral, and is an exceptional example of Elizabethan Gothic art.

The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes was built by order of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella I of Castile and Fernando II of Aragon, as a burial place for themselves and their family.

Work on the monastery began in 1477 and ended in 1504.

In 1954, the San Juan de los Reyes Monastery was declared a National Monument and in 1983 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

    The San Juan de los Reyes Monastery is open every day of the week, except on January 1 and 6 , May 1, September 9 and December 24, 25 and 31. Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in winter and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in summer.

      The price of general admission to the San Juan de los Reyes Monastery is 4 euros. There are discounts for students, over 65s and groups of more than 20 people. In addition, admission is free for children under 12 and for people with disabilities.
